TechnicalSEOauditsinEthiopia:thehalfofSEOthatisengineering

Crawlability, indexation, Core Web Vitals and structured data audited by engineers - the half of SEO that most agencies subcontract or skip entirely.

A technical SEO audit checks whether search engines can crawl, render, index and understand your site: robots and sitemap correctness, canonical and duplication problems, Core Web Vitals measured against real field data, structured data validity, and JavaScript rendering. It is where content stops being the problem and code starts.

When content is not the problem

There is a particular kind of frustration that brings people to this page: the content is good, somebody has been writing consistently for a year, and nothing moves.

When that happens the cause is usually mechanical. The pages are not indexed. They render only after JavaScript that Google is slow to execute. Four URLs serve the same content and split the signal between them. The site is fast in the office and unusable on mobile data. None of that is fixed by writing more.

It is worth ruling out, because it is cheap to check and it is the only category of SEO problem where the fix is deterministic.

What an audit covers

AreaWhat we look for
Crawlabilityrobots.txt mistakes, blocked resources, crawl traps, orphan pages nothing links to
IndexationPages excluded and why, thin or duplicate pages diluting the site, index bloat from filter and search URLs
Canonicals and duplicationTrailing slash and case variants, http and https, www and non-www, parameter URLs, canonicals pointing somewhere unintended
Core Web VitalsLCP, INP and CLS from real field data where available, not just a lab run on a fast connection
RenderingWhether content exists in the HTML or only after JavaScript, which is the difference between reliable indexing and hoping
Structured dataPresent, valid, and actually describing the entity - schema that validates but says nothing is common
Internal linkingDepth from the homepage, pages with a single inbound link, and clusters that never link to each other
Mobile and connection realityBehaviour on a throttled mobile connection, which is how most Ethiopian visitors arrive
International and languagehreflang correctness where there is more than one language version - usually the source of two versions competing

What you get

  • A prioritised list of issues, ranked by likely traffic impact rather than by tool severity - most audits invert this and bury the two things that matter under forty that do not.
  • The specific fix for each, at the level of the actual change: this header, this tag, this template.
  • A short summary a decision-maker can act on without reading the technical detail.
  • An honest statement of what is not worth fixing, which on most sites is the majority of what a crawler reports.
  • The option of us implementing the fixes, or your developers doing it with the audit as the specification.
A crawler export is not an audit

Anyone can run Screaming Frog and send you the CSV. The value is not in the list; it is in knowing which fifteen of the four hundred findings would actually change anything, and what the fix is on your specific stack.

If a quote consists of a tool's output with a logo on it, you are buying a report, not an audit.

Questions people ask

Three to five working days for a typical business site, longer for a large e-commerce catalogue or a platform with many templates. We agree scope and a fixed price up front so it cannot expand into an open-ended engagement.

Not inherently - a great deal of well-ranking content runs on WordPress. Problems come from theme and plugin accumulation: a page builder shipping enormous JavaScript, four SEO plugins disagreeing, and unattended settings generating thousands of thin URLs. All of that is fixable without leaving the platform.

Either. We build web platforms, so we can implement directly. If you have a developer or an existing agency, the audit is written as a specification they can work from without needing us.

If good content is not ranking, technical problems are the first thing to eliminate - it is the cheapest and most conclusive check available. If it is ranking, an audit is preventative and can wait behind other work.

Good content that will not rank?

Send us the site. A technical audit is the fastest way to establish whether the problem is mechanical - and if it is not, we will tell you that too.
